Listing Description

Mine name is Becky. I am 56 years old.  I have been a public school teacher for 32 years. I hope to retire in about 4 years and I would like to retire as debt free as possible.  How did I get in such debt? I developed diabetes and had to take insulin. The more insulin I took, the more weight I gained. The more weight I gain, the more insulin I had to take. I ballooned up to over 300 lbs. My doctors then told me that I would be dead in 5 years if I didn’t do something about it. That was 5 years ago. I underwent a gastric by-pass and lost over 100 lbs. In my journey, I gained and lost a great amount of weight and changed clothes sizes quite often. I spent more money than I should on clothes and ended up charging my credit cards to the max. I have been trying to pay off the debts but have just gotten more and more behind.   Then Katrina hit. I had family that lived in the area and lost everything. I put in more money than I should to help them. What else could I do? I certainly don’t want to ask them to repay what I gave because it was a gift and not a loan.   I created the debts and I want to pay them off. I am just having a problem with all the interest. If I could consolidate them, I would be able to pay them.   My mortgage payment every month is about $650. My utilities run about $250 per month. I have a $100 a month condo fee.  Everything else is credit card debt. I pay as much as I can but I am just getting more and more behind. As of right now, my paycheck is about $2,500 a month.   I have a life insurance policy and a retirement fund that I can use as collateral. Thank you for your help.
