Listing Description
I am a part time, evening law student working full time as an Office Supervisor. I'm in my third year of law school, with my graduation date set for December 2007. But in order to get there, I need to take classes this summer. So here's why I'm asking for a loan on Prosper. Summer classes at my law school cost approximately $1100 per credit. At four credits, my costs amount to $4500 with books. These classes would be every night after work for 4 weeks. Or I can go to China for 3 weeks, get 4 credits, and put something valuable on my resume for about the same cost. I'm currently saving money for the trip, and I anticipate being able to pay for approximately half of the trip out of pocket. I currently am able to set aside approximately $400-500 per month towards the trip. But as the tuition is due and plane tickets need to be booked soon, timing is an issue.   I do have a past bankruptcy – the result of getting a divorce and getting laid off 3 weeks before 9/11. But I've since worked very hard to keep my credit clean and pay my bills on time.   My goal is to pay off this loan as soon as possible so that it is not a concern once I graduate.
